I have been living with chronic lymes plus all co-infections now for many years and have been able to somewhat control it through strict diet and easy exercise...I am still in constant pain and exhaustion which up to this point I have simply accepted...but, my wife and I are planning on having our first child and I dont have the energy and physical state to be the kind of father I want to be, so I am back to the forum looking for answers. I am looking into iv antibiotics again and wondered if anyone has had any positive experiences treating chronic lymes with this? I can't find any convincing information to go this route and my family is blindly pressuring me to do it. I am skeptical and nervous to go down this route because although my quality of life is terrible compared to most people, it is the best I have experienced in years and am worried that the strong antibiotic regime will strip this from me....I would appreciate any thoughts...thanks all, p

Hello. My heart goes out to you. I too have been living with Lyme for years. I believe I'm in a last chronic stage. I won't bother to go through my list of symptoms and problems. I'm sure you know all too well what horrors this disease brings. Your question is about antibiotic IV therapy. I personally have not gone that route and wouldn't. I met a woman who was actually diagnosed with Lyme and had been on IV antibiotics for over a year. She developed yeast throughout her body and had lost a lot of weight. She didn't get rid of the Lyme. She said, "now I have to deal with yeast AND the Lyme and I'm more foggy headed than ever". Before going that route, you might want to talk with someone that was helped with IV therapy. I have yet to run across anyone that it actually helped. Lyme mutates when it's threatened. I understand, you want to have some kind of a life. Please don't let anyone presser you into anything. You know your body better than anyone and honestly I believe that to be our best defense against "well meaning" people just trying to help. But they don't really know what it feels like.

IV Antibiotics, in my opinion, can be very helpful but only in short courses before the bacteria become resistant. After the bacteria is resistant, which can happen quickly, it is a waste of time to use them, and even harmful. I discuss use of Antibiotics in this fashion in Chapter 3 of my book, The Top 10 Lyme Disease Treatments. http://www.lymebook.com/top10book
