Son - 23 - diagnosed with Lyme / disbelieves diagnosis

I don't know if anyone else has run into this problem. My son has been diagnosed with Lyme disease by a chiropractic doctor specializing in ART (autonomic response testing - an advanced form of kinesiology developed by Dr. Klinghardt) He is not convinced of the diagnosis although he does follow the treatment plan - I do the management of it with my husband's help. But, he insists he has other conditions he has researched on the internet and wants to go to the Mayo clinic in AZ and have specialists fix him.
We have been to many very smart and highly esteemed doctors over the past 6 years and many alternative practitioners and to very little avail. He has had 5 or 6 surgeries in the past year to correct his problems. He was diagnosed with Eagles Syndrome - elongated styloid processes (in the neck) and has had those resected. He thought the surgery was not complete as he may have a calcified stylo-hyoid ligament to resect also. And it goes on and on with him chasing symptoms and finding doctors to eradicate them with little success. This has been very expensive and involved a lot of time wasted. We want to get him better and moving forward in life. He is pretty much living in his room and in front of the TV and removed himself from life. He's always looking for solutions to his health problems on the internet but he doesn't want to accept the Lyme diagnoses because he doesn't want the long term problem to deal with. he wants to get better right away, which doesn't sound like it's in the cards with Lyme.
My concern with him is that there has to be an underlying cause - not just random symptoms. He has lots of calcification issues and I was just reading about magnesium and the fact that it becomes deficient in Lyme patients and when that happens calcium balance gets thrown off and soft tissue calcification occurs.
He has a lot of pain in his neck and constant headache and swelling in the tissues and heart circulation problems. Doctor says the lyme is in his heart and his nerve tissues, brain. He has a lot of brain fog, restless, can't sit down, but tired at the same time. Doesn't sleep well. He appears well but feels terrible.
We've decided not to have the regular lyme test due to the unreliability of it. The issue is for him the proof will be in getting results that indicate he is on the right path and the problem with that is the slowness of getting any results when you are first starting Lyme treatment. Any suggestions?
Best to all of you,
Christine

As long as he is following a treatment plan for lyme, that is a great first step.
I have a hard time even getting family members tested. After a few months of lyme treatment, try the Western Blot from IgeneX. It does much better finding the lyme antibodies after the immune system is able to kick in and fight. If only one a the lyme specific bands shows up, consider it a lyme positive test (especially if 41 shows up too. 41 is not lyme specific, but very common in lyme). If he does not believe this either, don't bother. I'd hate for him to consider it negative and say "See, I don't have lyme".
I also like the CD-57 test (done with LabCorp only). This will show how sick you are with lyme. Normal is 200 and up. Very sick lyme patients will be under 60. One can argue that something other than lyme is causing it, but that is unlikely.
Good luck and take care, Rich (skiweasel7)
