hello- I am new to this forum, and am hoping to get some answers that I haven't otherwise been able to obtain. I was diagnosed in July of this year with early stage lyme. I figure by the time I had got my diagnosis, I had it about a month. I had only 2 of my IgM bands positive, and no IgG. I took a month of doxy and didn't miss a dose. I felt a lot better after taking it, but didn't feel I had complete symptom resolution. I followed up with an infection disease MD, and we agreed to do a second course of doxy for a month, which I am currently taking.I have read a lot about chronic lyme, but am trying to get a grasp of what might be going on in my situation. I am a nurse practitioner, and have seen and diagnosed many cases of lyme. Living in Maryland, lyme is very common here. It's a different ball game now that I am the patient. I have talked to several people who've caught their lyme at the same point that I was diagnosed, they took a month of doxy, and felt completely better. If anyone has any thoughts to share, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

It is believe that if lyme is caught before the spirochete gets into the tissues, 4-6 weeks could be enough. Otherwise, treatment should last a minimum to 4-6 months and may take years. This is based on Dr. Burrascano's Guidelines. I recommend reading that and can be found here (under his picture on the left column): http://www.publichealthalert.org/
