Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I have ordered the book. I wish to ask the group about Teasel root extract protocol. I heard about using it on another forum and have without much luck looked for more Lyme specific details about using it. I tried to search this site for discussions about it but so far I'm frustrated by the answers being blank. If anyone could point out what I'm doing wrong I wouldn't mind. I also wondered if this forum had a general consensus regarding Teasel root extract efficacy. I also am wondering which source is found to be the best to get a supply from.
I had lyme ten years ago and thought it was suppressed pretty well but had a few bites from ticks this season and suspect that it has all caught up with me one way or another. When the "feelings" returned I began a two month twice a day 100mg regime of doxy and it's nearly over. I don't think I'm better yet. I'm astonished at the developments since my last bout. While commercially overwhelming to me this site looks like a fair place to participate in the struggle.
Thanks,
twbi

I think I'm the only one replying in this area.

I have yet read anything about the Teasel root extract protocol.

Take care,

Thanks Rich,
It was very kind of you to chime in. Pretty quiet list huh? Well I guess I'll keep the thread alive by saying what I read about it so far and that I suspect the general uses support immunities. It's pretty much a TCM. (traditional chinese medicine) And the standard use ranges around kidney and liver support and one place I read it is used for low back pain. But I read that it was used with good results on a little kid for Lyme and the dose was three drops, three times a day. I was just hoping someone would know an adult protocol and have some advice on how long to continue and when to take a break.
(or not)

If you are looking for some protocols to follow, I would say the two biggest lyme herb protocols (which I kind of take from) are the Cowden protocol and Buhner's protocol (from the book "Healing Lyme").

Cowden has been refining his protocol since at least 2005 (when I started). His latest protocol is a bit more complex, but people swear by it.
NutraMedix page with Cowden Protocol

Buhner has written the book "Healing Lyme" a while ago. Not much has changed from that, except maybe a few more herbs he recently has success with. A good web site to find more info on this is:
http://www.planetthrive.com/
http://planetthrive.com/cgi-bin/members/pub9990215891170.cgi?categoryid=9990235248536

I also take Lauricidin (monolaurin) which seems to produce a large die off. After trying to start off gung-ho (1/4-1/2 scoop), I had to back to 1-2 pellets (maybe 100 pellets per scoop). I slowly ramped up to a scoop per day (almost took a year). So if you try taking that, I suggest starting slow.

And take a good multi-vit and I take lots of vit-D3. Vit-D3 seems to help the immune system. I will add that there is a lyme protocol called the Marshall protocol that requires you to not take any vit-D.

Take care and good luck,
Rich (skiweasel7)

Thanks again Rich!
I'll try to look into the Lauricidin. That's a new one for me too. Thanks, I really appreciate the on-ramp advice. I don't want to sound clueless but I'm guessing that this stuff is from the homeopathic tool kit? Where do you come by amounts where you can afford 100 pellet scoopfulls? I read the excerpt regarding the Marshall protocol and took note of the Vit D issue there. Very interesting notion and how interesting that while on anitbiotics one is advised to avoid the sun and one minute in it on a bright day leaves no doubt. I had the Buhner book around here somewhere but I never got a chance to really study it and now it's missing. I'll have to make some effort to discover where it went. Are you a Rife proponent?
Again I wish to thank you for giving me the kind words and wisdom.

Hi twbi,

The Lauricidin is in small pellet form. One scoop is about a tablespoon. You can buy this directly from the maker. My first jar lasted me about a year ($30/jar).
http://www.lauricidin.com/

I take lots of vit. D3 (5000-10,000 IU/day). If I chose to do the Marshall protocol, I would not take any. Trevor Marshall seems to really know what he is talking about. I don’t know how this could relate outside his protocol. It’s just one of those things to think about. But enough doctors told me to take vit. D, so now I do.

I use a "photon genie". It is similar in some ways to rife, but different in other ways. I was told you can not compare the two. I believe in it as it removes pain and increases healing to injuries. I do not have direct evidence or experience as to what it is doing for lyme or to my health long term. I use it as needed. "Lymeangel" is the best one to ask about it if you are looking at the photon genie.

Take care,
Rich (skiweasel7)

Hi twbi,
I have tried Teasel and chose to stop using it because of severe Herxing. I tried backing off on the number of drops several times but continued to have flare ups that I could not handle. I think, though, that the fact that my body had such severe reactions to the extract probably means that the extract really does affect the Lyme. I have not totally given uo on the Teasel and plan to give it another try, at some point. Unfortunately, I'm having a pretty bad problem with a swollen/inflamed tonsil (just one tonsil) that also involves swollen lymph nodes in my neck and my left ear. I've had a bunch of blood work done to rule out strep, cancer, and mononucleosis. The new theory is that, because of the massive doses of multiple antibiotics that I've been taking for more than a year, Candida may now have gone wild and now is systemic. Thus a possible fungal infection in my tonsil, ear, and lymphatic system. Needless to say, I'm pretty discouraged and feel terrible. Oh well, I knew the risk of taking so many antibiotics for an extended period of time. Not sure what my next step will be until the tonsil problem gets resolved.
Sorry to get on a tangent about my problems. Anyway, I hope I helped on your Teasel question.

Regards,
Joel

I have also been taking teasel root extract for a little over a month. I agree with the others that it really seems to be working because it causes a strong herx reaction. I struggled with the increased pain for a month, wondering if it was because of the teasel root. I cut back to 2 drops a day/2 times a day, and the pain improved quite a bit. http://www.ladybarbara.net/ is where I ordered my teasel root, and this site provides more information on it also. Good luck!

My son has been taking teasel now for a couple of months. He only takes what his natropath muscle-tests him for. He tests strong to take teasel, but only 1 drop 3X daily! I think it must be wicked stuff. He seems to be doing well on it. I understand teasel brings the lyme out of hiding so it is good to take some sort of lyme-killer with it...GSE, MMS, or whatever. My son takes MMS, also a very low dose...3 drops 3X daily.

Steve here on the MMS, I just wanted to explain the way I use MMS. The way I use MMS, there's NO BAD CHLORINE TASTE AT ALL.....(1) First, I put some drops of MMS in a small glass, Then mix 2.oz or 3.oz of just distilled water "NO ACTIVATOR MIXED" in the MMS/Water mix. Then I drink that mix.
Then (2) I take a second small glass of 3.oz or so of distilled water and put in the activator drops of activator in the second glass with just the distilled water. "NO MMS IN THE SECOND SMALL GLASS".. Just water and whatever activator I'm using, "Citric Acid" is what I use. Then I put in just a very small amount of a sweetener in the mix, (I don't use sugar) I use the sweetener "STEVIA" its very sweet.
Then I drink that second mixed drink and let the MMS activate in the stomach. Then there's no bad tast.
The MMS just mixed with only the distilled water has almost no tast at all.
It will activate in the stomcah.
The mixed glass of just distilled water and the activator/sweetened, tast a-little like a lemon-aid drink.

(I'm not suggesting to anyone to use MMS and drink MMS or to treat with MMS or any kind of activator or treatment of any kind in anyway here. I'm only explaining the way I use MMS and the Activator with a sweetener.)
Steve
