Hi everyone,
I'm Karen and I have Lymes Disease. I also have Babesia, West Nile Virus, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever as my co-infections. Lymes was diagnosed in April, but I have been suffering since summer of 2006. I live in central Texas~in the state where the Medical Board says Lymes doesn't exist. Finding a doctor here to even do the testing took about a year. IGenX results were "extremely positive" which makes my new doctor think I have had this since childhood growing up in the Louisiana swamps.

I turn 30 in a few days. If I have had this since childhood, then there is a very real and scary possibility that all three of my little daughters have this just beacause I gave birth to them! I have been so near death from this and I am very afraid for my girls. My doctor-who does not usually see children-wants all 3 of my babies tested ASAP. I have been taking meds since April and feel a good deal better. I just started taking Mepron Suspension (not covered by my insurance) and it cost $855.00!
I guess its doing something cause I feel really ill again.

How am I supposed to take care of my daughters if they too have this being this sick? All three girls do have some pretty strange symptoms. My oldest is 10, very skinny, very very ADHD. My middle is 7, balance challenged, accident prone, very uncoordinated, headaches everyday, overly emotional(probably just like me on this one). My youngest almost 4, is as stubborn as the day is long, all attitude all the time, more than likely going to be a lot like my oldest.

The doctor say the middle daughter yesterday, but did not have the heart to hold her down and draw blood to send to IGenX. She was screaming and crying out of fear of the needle-DRAMA QUEEN!She has also had tubes in ears, bladder issues, and the doctor says her head is large for her body. Apparently, all of these things are suspicious of Lymes, but we won't know for sure until we can get some blood from her.

Anyway, I work out of my house doing life insurance underwriting but will soon be out of work. I'm married and hubby takes care of me and kids when I'm so sick that I can't get out of bed. I have been feeling that way again since starting Mepron. Hubby quit his job back in February because of me being ill and needing help with kids. Then I found my new doctor who specializes in chronic Lymes. He still tells me based on my bloodwork, I should be dead already! Trust me, that isn't something you want to hear from your doctor!

Please everyone who has taken the time to read my ramblings, wish me health and I will do the same for all of you!

Bye for now,
Karen

Welcome Karen,

Sorry to hear about you and your kids. My son is almost seven and has lyme. We have to hold him down when we need to draw his blood, but he does not kick and scream anymore. It took my wife, myself, and an extra person to hold him down the first time (he's under 40 pounds, but fear can make him strong).

Bladder issues and IC are common with lyme. My wife's bladder issues are under control with lyme treatments. Also, ADD and autism like behavior is linked to lyme. So I would be suspicious of lyme in your children. The good news is that they will improve with treatment.

Take care,
Rich (skiweasel7)
