This has happened several other times in the past; once for a general Lyme story on CNN and once when President Bush was diagnosed with Lyme diesase. The importance of this time, however, was that the CNN article presented what I consider to be a progressive, accurate, and cutting edge view of Lyme disease; not the antiquated views that CNN has presented in the past. In this way, this was a breakthrogh event. Major media also picked up the story in other venues as well, including a Good Morning America Lyme story on July 4, 2008 (a few days ago). So many are suffering with unknown Lyme Disease and the only way they can learn about it is not thru their doctors, but from public awareness! The number of lyme suffers is astounding. I have a friend whose spouse is from all visible indications suffering from Severe Rheumatoid Artritis, with many symptoms of Lyme. He has been diagnosed with the worst case of RHA that the Rheumatologist has seen in years. She has asked no less than 3 physicians to check him for Lyme and has been refused 3 times. They simply look at her as if she is crazy and do not do the test! They treat him instead with Chemo and Infusion therapy (3 treatments of $7,000 each!) Our Medical Doctor's have been duped into staying ignorant when it comes to this horiffically bad disease that is destroying tens of thousands of lives!
