This video is related to an excerpt in my book, "The Lyme Disease Survival Guide: Physical, Lifestyle and Emotional Strategies for Healing,", and is entitled: "They Will Never, Ever Understand: Accepting Friends' and Family's Limitations." It discusses some reasons why friends and family don't understand chronic illness, and offers a few tips for coping with the disappointment when they fail to meet our expectations.

This is a great video. My favorite part was about appreciating family and friends' EFFORTS to reach out even if they didn't reach out HOW you wanted or expected.

I think this is an important lesson even for healthy people, especially with close family members. There is a book called "The 5 Love Languages" and it talks about how each person has a unique language in which they want to receive love. This is great, but I think a truly mature Christian (which I am not, but working on it!) can receive love in ANY love language, simply by understanding that the intent WAS love, even if it didn't feel that way. Awesome video.

Hey Bryan,

Thanks! :-)
I am glad you enjoyed the video. You are right-this is an important lesson for healthy people, in all kinds of relationships! And a very hard, but necessary, one to learn.

I have read the Five Love Languages and really enjoyed it. It really opened my eyes to the fact that we can all be so different in the way we give and receive love, and that understanding these differences, as well as accepting each others' limitations, can enable us to love more deeply.

Have a great day!
