Walk/Run/Sit-A-Thon Family Picnic

To Benefit The Michigan Lyme Disease Association

Come have some fun and laughs on Saturday, September 22nd from 9:30am till 1:30pm. The Michigan Lyme Disease Association will be hosting a Walk/ Run/ Sit-A-Thon Family Picnic in Garden City at Garden City Park (NE corner of Cherry Hill and Merriman) The path in the park is 1.2 miles and is a beautiful setting.

We have made this event something everyone can participate in. If you can't walk or run that is ok, you can join the section of sitters and still earn pledges and prizes. All pledges are based on participating not miles or time.

We are asking that you gather your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to help out.

If you are not able to attend, you can still donate or collect pledges on behalf of or in honor of someone. Those individuals will be acknowledged at the event on a poster along with their name being announced in our newsletter after the event.

We are asking each person either donate or raise a minimum of $20.00 in pledges. If more than one family member is participating then add an additional $5.00 for each family member. For example if you and your husband are both participating you would need to either donate or raise a minimum of $25.00 in pledges.

Everyone that registers by August 25th will be guaranteed a T-Shirt. You can pre-register using the enclosed form, or by calling or emailing. There will be some extra T-Shirts available at the event but we just can’t guarantee your size. All participants will have a chance to win prizes and other goodies.

Please bring your own picnic lunch and your favorite chair to sit on and chat with others while prizes are being awarded. This will be a great opportunity to network with others from around Michigan and allow your family and friends to learn more about Lyme Disease and other Tick-Borne illnesses.

We are looking for Company and Business Sponsors to help us with this event. Their contributions will help with T-shirts, prizes and raffle items. The form will be included in the fundraising packet or can be obtained by calling or emailing.

To begin, simply fill out the form on the back of this flyer and return it for your complete packet to start collecting your donations/pledges. If additional flyers are needed, please feel free to request them or copy this one to pass along.

Since the Michigan Lyme Disease Association is an all volunteer nonprofit organization, 100% of your donations go back into education, prevention, literature, our bi-monthly newsletter Tick-Talk, postage, our toll free number, and copies. When money is available we have done research, conferences and educational billboards. We would like to continue all of these projects, but can only do it with your help.

If we don’t raise enough funds soon, the Michigan Lyme Disease Association will no longer be able to continue to support Michigan Residents, and we really don't want to see this happen. So please say you will get involved and ask others to get involved too.
