My name is Pam, but I go by hilltophomesteader. My family has been diagnosed with Lyme after my youngest daughter was found to have Lyme first. She was very sick with GI complaints off and on for years, but last Fall basically spent 75% of her time in pain and curled up on her bed. We've been on antibiotic/cat's claw treatments since Christmas. Right now we are alternating antibiotics one week and cat's claw the next and so on. I really like our doc. My daughter is MUCH better, but we definitely have our ups and downs and a long way to go. We are a family of 5 - me, husband, daughter 24, son 22, daughter 17. Doc believes we are chronic, dating to me being bitten at age 9! and passing it to my kids in utero. We live on 80 acres in SW Washington state, surrounded by Weyco and about 26 miles from town, unless you count a tiny one-horse town! I am a bible believing Christian - I garden, have many animals, love antiques, collect old sewing machines and like to quilt. Red is my favorite color. We cook real food and eat dinner together (I used to think everybody did!) We like our kids a whole lot and they like us too! Our whole family is still figuring out this Lyme stuff. Our symptoms vary - my son and I have had more of the neurological symptoms. Most of us have joint pain; I've got arthritis in my fingers, my younger daughter and I have GI complaints. We always compared 'health' with each other, only to find out that all these symptoms AREN'T normal!! I had much tummy trouble as a kid, less as an adult, but have had panic attacks/excema/joint pain etc. as an adult. Honestly felt better BEFORE I found out I was sick! (My kids say I'm in denial!) Reading some of the stories of people's lyme experiences is SCARING me!

We're neighbours! I hope you've seen http://www.walyme.org
Every one of us gets scared, but knowledge is power and this is the type of community that shares research, information and simple daily coping skills so that we don't have to feel alone in our disease(s). Just that comfort helps me deal, I hope it might be helpful to you. We take it one day at a time. That's all any of us can do.
It sounds like you have a good doctor, that's a big plus!
Okay, I'm curious.. what is Weyco? Weyerhaeuser?

Sorry to be so long in replying! Yes, Weyco is Weyerhaeuser. I really do like our doctor. I've found that a lot of this Lyme stuff you've got to be 'up' on and research yourself because he just isn't available 24/7 :-).
It's amazing how many people out there have Lyme....it's equally amazing how many people are still clueless. We DO answer a lot of interesting questions!
Hope you're having a great summer - I DO love the sunshine!
