I cannae believe how well I'm responding to the Bicillin! The very next day after starting the injections, my nausea and therefore vomiting has disappeared! I think the penicillin is having a good affect on my vagus nerve (the nerve that controls stomach emptying) which before was plagued with bacteria. Even my digestion is making leaps and bounds!
All the N&V from the very start of 1999 (after being bit in 1998 in southern Indiana; I was on a camping/canoeing trip down the Wabash River) were my first clues that something was really wrong with my body.. for 8 years not a day passed by that I wasn't nauseated. However, now I wake up and actually smile, take my time 'rousing myself by looking out over the bay I live above (I love the water, a reason I love Puget Sound so much) ..I don't have to immediately run to the loo! What a difference that change alone is making! (..went from PO Omnicef to IM Bicillin)
So, yes I have a reason for blithering on.. I have a request or two:
If anyone has had any experience (directly or indirectly, i.e. a friend did it) with IM Inj's (intramuscular injections) could you share some of the techniques used to make the inj's as easy on the body/muscles as possible?
I find that my muscles get bruised easily, especially with the deep injections in my legs. (Not so much a problem on my backside.. would anyone have any idea why? I would think the butt would be more sensitive.. *shrug* perhaps more fat?)
I prepare the surface by rubbing, cleaning (wearing gloves, using alcohol wipes and all that goodness), pinching the area and rubbing between pushes of the medication. (and rubbing after the inj is done)
Would heat be useful? (I question that because the bicillin is refrigerated.. I wouldn't put heat on it unless my LLMD gave me the okay, but I'm wondering about the idea.)
An ice pack for swelling?
Is there a particular vitamin that I could rub into bruises to help them heal? Or some sort of poultice.. I know comfry is good for the bone, what would be good for muscles?
Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom they could share? I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance!
Namaste, Willo
