I am a 62-year-old Mom and former nurse who has survived many health crises over the years, from (emergency draining of my 'lupus' lung to...post polio syndrome). Most recently I have been treated aggressively and successfully by my Arizona physician for tickborne illness, including Lyme, Babesia, Erlichia and 5 strains of Mycoplasma. During the worst herxheimers I used to joke that I would have to improve 20% before I could die. Now I am steadily improving.

Here are some things I use to ease my herxing.

To help move the toxins out of the body from herxing it is important to drink fresh squeezed lemon juice, in a minimum of one gallon of "good" bottled or filtered water. Those that are allergic/sensitive to lemons can use limes. Manual lymph drainage is a must WHEN THE LYMPH SYSTEM BECOMES BLOCKED or sluggish, an oxygen-starved, toxic environment is created, which will influence all the cells of the body. A stagnant toxic lymph flow can produce a thickened, turbid dirty lymph. It encourages degeneration of both cells and organs and contributes to tumor and cancer formation among other things. I try and have a Lymphologists work on me at least twice a week, then I do manual lymph drainage at home. You can find out more about lymph drainage, by going to google.com

I have used "organic" coffee enemas for the past 30 years and find that these enemas help to remove these unwanted toxins from my body and liver. The coffee enema stimulates the glutathione-S-transferase system by 700%. Among these are the dilation of blood vessels and bile ducts, the relaxation of smooth muscles, and the increase of bile flow. It also removes ammonia-like products, toxic-bound nitrogen, protein derivatives that are often times charged particles, polyamines, amino acid clumps and complexes.

I make a pot of "organic" coffee (1 quart) at bedtime and unplug the coffee maker and let cool to room temperature. The coffee must be regular, non-instant, and "must" be caffeinated coffee. If you don't have a coffee maker make sure you use enamel ware, corning ware, glass or stainless steel. NEVER use aluminum or Teflon. Use 2 to 4 tablespoons of ground "organic" coffee to 1 quart of filtered water. If a coffee enema makes a person jittery, shaky, nervous, nauseated, or light headed, the coffee solution is too strong. You can use as little as 1 tablespoon if need be.

Try and do some mild exercise prior to the enema, but if you are too sick you can eliminate this step until such time as you can add it to your protocol. Always try and attempt a normal bowel movement prior to doing the enema. It is more comfortable if the colon as been evacuated.

Place 1 quart of lightly warmed coffee in your enema bag or bucket. Use a colon tube about 18 in long, which is available in most drug stores. Allow the coffee to flow to the end of the colon tube, which eliminates any air in the tube. You can use a lubricant that doesn't contain additives or chemicals like Vitamin E cream.
Insert the tube 12 to 18 inches into the rectum. Do this slowly in a rotating motion which helps to keep the tube from kinking up inside the colon.

The enema bag should not be over 36 inches higher than the rectum. If you place it too high the coffee runs into the colon to fast and under too much pressure, and makes it uncomfortable to hold in. I lie on my left side and drain the solution out of the bag. The tube should never be forced when discomfort occurs. I lie on my left side at least 5 minutes then I roll over on my back for another 5 minutes, then I roll to my right side for 5 minutes. I retain the enema for 15 minutes or longer if you can, then expel it. I put 2 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses in the coffee while it is warm, to cut back on the gas. I do two in a row or sometimes one in the morning and one in the evening during the herx, depending on how bad the herx is. I use 2 cups of organic coffee with each enema.

After I complete the enemas I then get into a bathtub of hot water using 2 cups of Epsom Salts, along with a capful of Miracle II Soap and a capful of Miracle II Neutralizer. The Miracle II products are used for detoxing. They really help to pull the toxins out quicker. I soak for a minimum of one half hour with the water up to my neck. I stand and rinse off, then after I towel dry, I spritz my body with Miracle II Neutralizer.

I get into bed and apply a "COLD-PRESSED" Castor Oil pack (with a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil) over my liver area and sometimes I put on two packs to cover my whole abdomen. Pour castor oil onto the flannel or 100% cotton baby diaper until it is well moistened. Whatever you choose to use should be large enough to fit over the entire liver area.

Heat 3 to 4 tablespoons of oil in glass dish in oven (or microwave) until it reaches a comfortable temperature (1 to 1-1/2 minutes in microwave). Lay an old towel down to lay on to prevent staining of your bed linens. I go to the fabric stores and buy the discarded flannel...then cut it into 12 to 16 in squares.....

Lie down on your back, placing the oil soaked cloth over the abdomen, cover with a small sheet of plastic (I use Saran Wrap), then place the heating pad on top. Be careful NOT to let it get to hot and burn your belly.

Keep the pack on for approximately one hour. This is an excellent time to rejuvenate by resting, practicing visualization, meditation, relaxing breathing or prayer. I like to burn my white and green candles and put on my Hopi music and meditate. Careful, I have fallen asleep several times...

For best results, apply the pack as often as possible. Try it for at least four consecutive days per week, for at least four to six weeks. I like this procedure even when I am not herxing. I sometimes do one daily. You cannot over due. You will notice yellow bile in your stools. Not to worry as this is what you want it to do.

Boil or launder flannel to remove any impurities which may remain in fabric.
Do not reuse pack without washing in (one ounce) baking soda and (one pint)
hot water. Soak for twenty minutes then run through a normal wash. Flannel
by the yard can be purchased at any fabric store. Remember to launder before
using. Do not wash with other clothes

The baking soda solution can be used for washing the oily areas of skin after
treatment. However, the oil will soak into your skin naturally. Castor oil
is excellent for dry skin. Be sure to clean the area you are going to treat before application of castor oil.

This is only a small part of my entire alternative protocol that I use for Lyme disease, which is working for me.
